Cade Denton en route to the sweep. Coffey, the reigning Summit League Pitcher of the Week, tossed his fourth career shutout in game one of Saturday's doubleheader, allowing only two hits and striking out a season-best eight batters. The junior faced only one batter over the minimum in the win. McCullough and Denton each registered saves of at least three innings over the weekend.Â
• Offensively, ORU was led by
Joshua Cox, the reigning Summit League Player of the Week, who went 5-for-7 with a home run and five RBIs in two starts over the weekend.Â
• In midweek contests, the Golden Eagles are 7-3 this season.
• In the Summit League, ORU's offense ranks first in batting average (.285), runs (231), hits (319), doubles (61), triples (13), RBIs (211), walks (164) and on-base percentage (.383). On the mound, the Golden Eagles lead the conference in strikeouts (306).

• ORU was selected as the unanimous favorite to retain their regular-season crown in the 2022 Summit League Preseason Coaches' poll, garnering 36 points and all six of the possible first-place votes they could attain.

Isaac Coffey earned plenty of preseason accolades as the junior was selected as the Summit League Preseason Pitcher of the Year by both D1 Baseball and Perfect Game USA. The Goleta, California, native also garnered Preseason All-American honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Collegiate Baseball.Â
Joshua Cox was selected as the Summit League Player of the Year by both D1 Baseball and Perfect Game USA.Â
Brooks Fowler garnered Preseason Summit League Freshman of the Year honors from D1 Baseball.
Scouting the Opponent
