Kipngetich Claims UCA Challenge 6K Individual Title

CONWAY, Ark.Emmanuel Kipngetich won the 2019 UCA Cross Country Challenge 6k men's individual title, while leading the men's team to a fifth place overall finish on Saturday, Sept. 7. The women's team placed fourth overall in the 4k race.

 

NEWS AND NOTES
- Junior college transfer Emmanuel Kipngetich became the first ORU cross country athlete to win an individual title since Samantha Watson won the Bob Timmons Classic 5K on Aug. 31, 2013.
- Kipngetich's victory was the highest male finish since David Batchelder placed second at the Bob Timmons Classic 6K on Aug. 31, 2013.
- Alexa Granderson led the Golden Eagles in the women's 4k race finishing 11th overall as an individual, while the women's team placed fourth in a field of 10 teams.
- The men's 6k race featured 105 runners, while the women's 4k race had 92 competitors entered.
- Five Golden Eagles recorded top-30 finishes in their respective races. Granderson, Jessica Romero, and Sharon Jepkemoi on the women's side, while Kipngetich and Armani Redes did so in the men's race.
