CONWAY, Ark. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team built a late lead in the fifth set, but could not close out Little Rock in a 3-2 loss (23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-25, 12-15) Friday evening in the opening match of the UCA Invitational at the Farris Center.

Three different players finished with a double-double for the Golden Eagles as they held a 12-8 edge in the final frame before the Trojans used a 7-0 run to swipe the victory.

Little Rock stormed out of a late timeout to score the final four points and erase ORU's two-point advantage in the opening set. The Golden Eagles quickly bounced back to even the match hitting .317 in set two for a decisive win.

Sarah Thiessen sparked a critical run in the third set as the libero dropped in a perfectly placed kill as ORU took a 2-1 set lead only to see the Trojans push back to force a fifth set.

Inside the Box Score

  • Thiessen put together her third-straight match with at least 20 digs as the redshirt sophomore finished the evening with 32, including a ridiculous 12 in set two alone, to match her career best.
  • Behind an 18-kill, 22-dig effort, CeCe Madison registered his sixth-consecutive double-double for the Golden Eagles.
  • Laura Shoopman added another double-double to her resume as the freshman had 12 kills and 15 digs. Inka Inkret came on strong down the stretch burying three of her 11 kills in the final set and had 12 digs for a double-double.
  • Bri Greenlee reached double-digit kills for the second time this season putting away 10, while Sylvia Lawson tallied 49 set assists.
