ORU Falters at League-Leading Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team saw its three-match win streak come to an end Sunday afternoon falling on the road to Summit League-leading Omaha (19-25, 21-25, 19-25) at Baxter Arena.


After the Golden Eagles dropped the opening set, Tori Roe served a 4-0 run aided by two blocks for an early advantage. Both sides went back-and-forth until a 19-19 deadlock was broken as the Mavericks closed out the frame scoring the final three points.


Omaha raced out to a 9-3 start in the final set and ORU was unable to mount a comeback effort until late in the stanza. Kills from CeCe Madison and Bri Greenlee staved off match points before the Mavericks finished the contest to remain unbeaten in conference play.


Inside the Box Score

  • Bria Bergman posted 27 set assists and hit at a .571 clip with four kills on seven swings.
  • Inka Inkret led the offense with nine kills and added nine digs.
  • Roe and Madison paced ORU on defense totaling 14 digs.
  • Katarina Mikulic put away the Golden Eagles' only solo block and added a block assist, while Morgan Blomquist had a team-high two block assists.


Up Next
ORU has four days to prepare for its toughest stretch of matches playing three times in five days, including extensive travel up north. The Golden Eagles start with a home game against North Dakota (Oct. 19) before a road trip to South Dakota (Oct. 21) and North Dakota State (Oct. 23).
