AVCA All-Region Honors Bestowed on ORU's Milos

AVCA All-Region Honors Bestowed on ORU's Milos

LEXINGTON, Ky.Laura Milos represented the Oral Roberts volleyball team on the 2017 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Midwest Region Team as announced by the organization's office Tuesday.

The senior was named to the all-region first team for the second time in her career with the navy and gold after picking up the distinction in 2015 and added an honorable mention award in 2016. She is the only player in Golden Eagle history to earn the honor more than once in a career.

The 2017 Summit League Player of the Year, Milos led ORU to its first postseason appearance since 2006 with a spot in the National Invitational Volleyball Tournament. She was nothing short of brilliant all season for the Golden Eagles and ranked in the top five nationally in five different statistical categories and named the national player of the week by both the AVCA/Sports Imports and VolleyMob back on Oct. 3.

Milos, a native of Porec, Croatia, tallied 560 kills, reaching 500 or more for the fourth-consecutive season, and averaged 5.28 kills per set ranking third in the NCAA in each category. Her 6.01 points per set were third nationally and a total of 637 points ranked fourth, while her 0.52 service aces per set had her fifth in the country.

A four-time All-Summit League First Team selection, she also earned a Summit League record 15 player of the week honors in her tenure. Milos also is just the second player in ORU history to record 2,000-plus kills and 1,000 or more digs joining Ori Zuzic with that accomplishment. She was named the conference's female athlete of the month in September.

As a first-team honoree, Milos is now eligible to earn AVCA All-America status, trying to become the first player in ORU history to add that award, when announced by the organization prior to the NCAA Championship.
