ELMHURST, Ill. – Oral Roberts' Laura Milos made history Monday, becoming the first athlete in Summit League volleyball history to earn 13 career Offensive Player of the Week awards. This is the second such honor of the season for Milos, while South Dakota's Anne Rasmussen notched her first-career Player of the Week title for her efforts on the defensive side of the net.
With kill totals of 24 and 17 in two matches this weekend (5.13 kills/set), Milos guided the Golden Eagles (5-9, 2-0) to wins over Fort Wayne and Western Illinois to begin the league season. Milos currently ranks third in the nation with a 5.02 kills/set average and now moves to No. 3 on the Summit League's all-time career kills list (1,977).
Rasmussen and the Coyotes (7-7, 1-1) started the league season with a thrilling five-set victory over Western Illinois. Rasmussen turned in a match-high 26 digs before posting a career-best 33 in a four-set loss to North Dakota State on Saturday. For the weekend, the defensive specialist from Oak Creek, Wis., totaled 60 digs and averaged 6.67 digs/set. In fact, that digs/set average Rasmussen posted in two matches would rank No. 1 nationally. Currently, though, her 4.96 digs/set season average is No. 42 in the NCAA.
