TULSA, Okla. – Head Coach Sheera Sirola has announced the hiring of Kyle South as assistant coach for the Oral Roberts University volleyball team on Thursday.
South joins the Golden Eagles after spending two seasons as a volunteer assistant at Big East member Creighton. At ORU he will help in all aspects of on-court coaching, scouting and recruiting along with working with the setters and the defense.
During his time with the Bluejays, they went 52-18 winning the Big East both seasons and advanced to the Sweet 16 this past season. Creighton won the Big East regular season and tournament championship in 2014 and 2015 as South worked with the setters, middles and defensive training.
Prior to joining Creighton, South spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri. While with the Vikings he assisted with both the men's and women's teams setting single-season records for wins on both sides.
South has experienced winning at nearly every stop including two seasons as an assistant coach at Iowa Western Community College where they earned a fifth place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament. He has also served as an assistant coach at the high school level and since 2009 he has spent time as a head coach and assistant coach for several club teams in western Iowa and Kansas.
A graduate of Manhattan Christian College, South earned his bachelors of science in bible and worship ministry.
