ORU Picked Fifth in Preseason Poll; Gorana Kadijevic Named to Preseason Watch List

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Oral Roberts women's tennis team was selected to finish fifth the Summit League preseason poll and Gorana Kadijevic was named to the preseason watch list.

Five-time reigning Summit League champion Denver was picked to claim the 2019 women's tennis championship according to the preseason poll of league head coaches. The Pioneers have earned both the regular season and tournament titles in each of their first five seasons in the league. 

Denver totaled 25 points and received five of the six possible first-place votes to take the top spot. Last year's runner-up, South Dakota, claimed the final first-place vote and 20 points to finish second in the poll. Omaha (16) edged league newcomer North Dakota (15) to take third place, while Oral Roberts (8) and Western Illinois (5) rounded out the poll.

Gorana Kadijevic | Oral Roberts | Sophomore

· Was top-50 in women's tennis in Croatia in 2015 and 2016

· Won the state championship in doubles in U16

· Won the U18 Sportske Igre Mladih in Splitu

Bianca Mok | Denver | Senior

· Finished last season 18-2 (5-0 Summit League) in singles during the spring season, posting a 17-1 record at No. 2

· Earned a 17-3 (4-0 Summit League) record in doubles play with a combined 8-3 record on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts

· 2018 Summit League Player of the Year and All-League recipient

Arisha Ladhani | Denver | Redshirt Senior

· Finished 14-7 (4-0 Summit League) last season in singles and 2-3 in doubles play

· Named to the 2018 All-League team

Jana Lazarevic | South Dakota | Sophomore

· Named to the 2018 All-League team

· In league play, had the second-best winning percentage (.800) after finishing 4-1

Janelle Wilson | Omaha | Senior

· 2018 All-League honoree

· Finished last season with the second-most wins on the team with a 13-6 singles record

· Completed last season with a 5-0 record in conference play for doubles

Natalie Lorentz | Omaha | Sophomore

· Tallied a 17-5 overall record in doubles play with a 4-1 mark in conference play in 2018

· Totaled a 14-10 record in singles play

Kaede Amano | North Dakota | Junior

·  Transfer from Campbellsville University

·  Earned a 20-1 singles record and went 22-1 in doubles last season

·  2018 Mid-South Conference Player of the Year

· 2017 Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year

Megan Tagaloa | Western Illinois | Freshman

· Three-time All-League MVP in high school

· Finished undefeated in 2015-16

· During her senior year of high school, won Inland Valley League Female Athlete of the Year and the Inland Valley League Championship


Through 36 years of Division I athletics, The Summit League offers 19 championship sports and has a combined enrollment of nearly 100,000 at nine institutions, including three located in top 60 U.S. metro populations and two land-grant universities.
