ORU Continues Texas Trip, Travels to Beaumont

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's soccer team will travel from San Antonio to Beaumont to take on the Lamar University Cardinals on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 1:00 p.m.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Head coach Steve Holeman is in his fourth year leading the Cardinals. Forward Lucy Ashworth leads the Cardinals in shots (39), shots on goal (21), points (8) and goals (4). The junior is registering a .539 shots on goal percentage. Lamar snapped a four game losing streak defeating Texas Southern, 5-0, on Friday, Sept. 13. Five different Cardinals scored in the match.

 

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. LAMAR
Oral Roberts leads the all-time series 3-1, this will be the second time the Golden Eagles travel to Beaumont. ORU last defeated Lamar in 2018, 3-2, at the Case Soccer Complex. Jordan Langebartels led the Golden Eagles in the match with two goals, while Sierra Beall added one of her own.

 

LAST TIME OUT
The Golden Eagles battled the UTSA Roadrunners in a two-overtime 1-1 draw. True freshman Samantha See scored the lone goal for the Golden Eagles in the 27th minute, while fellow freshman Allison Austin tallied eight saves and recorded a career high .889 save percentage. ORU recorded eight shots with six on goal.

 

POINT COLLECTORS
Drishana Pillay and McKenzie Edwards are two of only three athletes to record five points in a match in The Summit League in 2019. Pillay collected seven points on Aug. 24, when she scored three goals and one assist in a 7-0 victory over UAPB. Mara Yapello of North Dakota recorded a five-point performance in an 8-0 victory over Minot State.

  

MR. ROGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD
Head Coach Roger Bush is back for his seventh season leading the Golden Eagles, after six seasons Bush has a 58-56-10 record at ORU. Student-athletes under Bush have earned 26 all-conference honors, 13 player of the week awards and two have earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. Bush was named the 2016 Summit League Women's Coach of the Year.

 

SUMMIT LEAGUE OUTLOOK
A year after finishing 3-5-0 in league play, the Golden Eagles were picked to finish seventh in the 2019 Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll. Senior midfielder Jordan Langenbartels was one of 13 athletes named to the The Summit League Players to Watch List, Langenbartels led the Golden Eagles with career-highs in goals (7) and points (18) despite only appearing in 15 of 20 matches.
