Golden Eagles Return Home Playing Host to Saint Louis

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's soccer team returns to action playing host to the Saint Louis Billikens on Friday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m., at the Case Soccer Complex.

SCOUTING THE BILLIKENS
Head coach Katie Shields is in her seventh season leading SLU posting a 71-42-10 record. The Billikens return seven starters from a 2018 squad that finished a perfect 10-0-0 in the A-10 and 18-4-1 overall. SLU is 0-2-0 on the road in 2019 with losses at Notre Dame (1-0) and Louisville (1-0), while defeating Indiana State (2-1) and Drake (3-0) at home. The Billikens attack early and often as they have outscored their opponents 5-1 in the first half.

 

ALL-TIME SERIES VS SLU
Friday's match will be the second time the Golden Eagles have squared off against the Billikens. In 2018, ORU lost to SLU, 4-0, in St. Louis, Mo., on Sept. 7.

 

GROWING PAINS
The Golden Eagles have posted a 1-3-0 record on the young 2019 season, including losses to Texas Tech (4-0) and Oklahoma State (4-0). After losing the season opener to Rice, 2-1, ORU showed promise on Aug. 24, defeating the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 7-0.

 

MR. ROGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD
Head Coach Roger Bush is back for his seventh season leading the Golden Eagles, after six seasons Bush has a 57-55-9 record at ORU. This will be the second time Bush has coached against Saint Louis posting a 0-1-0 record. Student-athletes under Bush have earned 26 all-conference honors, 13 player of the week awards and two have earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. Bush was named the 2016 Summit League Women's Coach of the Year.

 

SUMMIT LEAGUE OUTLOOK
A year after finishing 3-5-0 in league play, the Golden Eagles were picked to finish seventh in the 2019 Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll. Senior midfielder Jordan Langenbartels was one of 13 athletes named to the The Summit League Players to Watch List, Langenbartels led the Golden Eagles with career-highs in goals (7) and points (18) despite only appearing in 15 of 20 matches.
