ORU Takes on UAPB Saturday Night

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's soccer team will take on the University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff Lady Lions, Saturday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m., at the Case Soccer Complex.

SCOUTING THE LADY LIONS
Head coach Jeremy Winzer is in his first season leading the Lady Lions, a team that finished 3-9-2 overall and 3-5-2 in SWAC play in 2018. UAPB return seven players from a year ago, including key returners Sariah Orocu, Shannon Seymour and Sarah Wright. The Lady Lions opened the season in the win column defeating Central Baptist College 2-1 on Aug. 22.

 

HEATING UP
Despite ending last year with an injury, senior forward Jordan Langebartels has had the hot foot for the Golden Eagles. Langebartels, a Tulsa native, has scored five goals in her last seven games dating back to Sept. 14. 

 

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
Four true freshmen made their collegiate debut including Allison Austin, Michaela Johnson, Samantha See and Angie Machado. Austin and See each recorded 50-plus minutes in Thursday's night match. 

 

MR. ROGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD
Head Coach Roger Bush is back for his seventh season leading the Golden Eagles, Bush has a 56-54-9 record at ORU. This will be the first time Bush has coached against Rice University. Student-athletes under Bush have earned 26 all-conference honors, 13 player of the week awards and two have earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. Bush was named the 2016 Summit League Women's Coach of the Year.

 

SUMMIT LEAGUE OUTLOOK
A year after finishing 3-5-0 in league play, the Golden Eagles were picked to finish seventh in the 2019 Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll. Senior midfielder Jordan Langenbartels was one of 13 athletes named to the The Summit League Players to Watch List, Langenbartels led the Golden Eagles with career-highs in goals (7) and points (18) despite only appearing in 15 of 20 matches. 

 

LAST TIME OUT
ORU dropped the season opener to Rice, 2-1, on Aug., 22. Langebartels led the Golden Eagles with three shots in the match, while Shannon Smith and Amogelang Motau each had two. Freshman keeper Allison Austin recorded three saves.
