ORU Women’s Soccer Signs Four on Signing Day

ORU Women’s Soccer Signs Four on Signing Day

TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts women's soccer team has signed four players to national Letters of Intent and has added a transfer to the 2018 squad Head Coach Roger Bush announced Thursday.

Bush on the 2018 Class:

"The 2018 signing class represents ongoing building blocks towards the assemblage of a great team on the field, and includes both character and personality that we know will enhance and drive our teams culture the direction we have purposed," Head Coach Rogers Bush said. "Each kid comes from a great club background and we know they will be prepared for the transition to collegiate level soccer."

"The 2018 class is smaller than any in recent history, but we believe the student-athletes are very capable.  Each player in the 2018 class has an opportunity to be immediately competitive within a very competitive and also youthful roster for ORU women's soccer."

"The 2018 class was assembled carefully and included a team effort and work of each of our staff members.  In particular Coach Wes Branstetter and Coach Preston Wiruth have been diligent in our ongoing player identification and recruitment efforts. As a staff we are honored to consider the great legacy of the ORU women's soccer alumni base, and within that paradigm are confident these new members of our family will not only earn their jersey, but continue to build on the strong legacies and traditions that ORU women's soccer alumni have worked hard to establish."

Martha Helsee | Forward | Christian Education Alliance | Tulsa, Okla.

"Martha is an intriguing player.  Her adaptability, well-rounded skill sets, physical nature all provide her opportunity to contribute in a number of areas.  We are always excited about players such as Martha who are capable and also willing to do the defending work as well as take on the responsibility of creating the attack.  Martha we know will bring the proper attitude and ethics towards work and team that drive our program."

Nicole Gornell | Midfielder/Defender | Millard West HS | Omaha, Neb.

"Nicole has the unique distinction of being one of only a few on our roster who is well adapted to playing in the left flank.  She's an all-around footballer, great IQ, great vision, and great deliveries.  She represents another addition to our roster that appears capable and ready to add attacking flavor, but also has a great defending mentality and presence.  Her versatility is exciting to add to the ORU women's soccer roster."

Ashlyn Williams | Midfielder | Yukon High School | Yukon, Okla.

"Ashlyn is an athletic player who is comfortable in the middle of the park, but also possesses some of the normal athletic traits of a player who is capable of playing the demanding flank roles of our system.  We expect Ashlyn's athleticism to translate nicely to the college game, and she represents another player whose hybrid qualities render her effective both in attack and throughout our holding mid roles and backline."

Patty Kliver | Forward | Omaha Marian HS | Omaha, Neb.

"Patty is a player whose motor and energy are exceptional.  Her mentality and activity level both physically and mentally are exciting to fit into our system of play which places high demands on each player and position.  Patty comes from an attacking background and is adept at playing across the front 3.  We believe she'll be a great addition to a group of attacking players on our roster who are willing and capable defensive pressers in transition and threatening in attack."

Samantha Garvilla | Goalkeeper | Transfer- St. Charles Community College | St. Charles, Mo.

"Sam has been a great addition to our team so far this semester.  She's a goalkeeper who possesses range to cover the goal, possesses good distribution, and is comfortable with her feet.  Her athletic skill sets are fantastic for the position.  Sam helps strengthen the goalkeeper corps which was needed after the departure of Keely and career injury to Paige.  We are excited for Sam to grow and develop with our team during this Spring semester."
