TULSA, Okla. – Four Golden Eagles scored in double figures as the Oral Roberts women's basketball team earned a 66-56 win over Purdue Fort Wayne Wednesday evening at the Mabee Center to begin the second half of Summit League play.
ORU got off to a fast start Wednesday evening at the Mabee Center going 5-for-6 overall from three-point range and 7-for-10 overall. Five minutes in to the game, the Golden Eagles had a 10 point lead. The Golden Eagles led 26-16 at the end of the first 10 minutes of play. ORU cooled off in the second quarter only shooting 40 percent. However, the Golden Eagles' largest lead of the game came in the second when they had a 17 point advantage at the 5:18 mark. The two teams each scored 14 points in the second as ORU led 40-30 at the break. Keni Jo Lippe led ORU with 11 points, while sitting the majority of the second quarter with two fouls.
Lakota Beatty scored all 10 of her points in the second half. The Golden Eagles went cold in the final 20 minutes of play shooting under 30 percent in the third and fourth quarters. Both teams scored 26 points in the second half. ORU went on a 5:19 scoring drought and Purdue Fort Wayne cut the deficit to three with 2:53 to play. Beatty hit a three-point bucket to then extend the lead to six. Free throws down the stretch by Beatty and Maya Mayberry gave ORU the final 10 point separation.
After shooting 59 percent overall in the opening period and 71 percent from long range, the Golden Eagles finished the night shooting 39 percent from the field and 36 percent from three-point range. Mayberry led the team with 16 points and shot 7-for-13 overall. Rylie Torrey went 4-for-12 overall for 12 points and five rebounds. Keni Jo Lippe had 13 points and shot 2-for-4 from three-point range. The highlight of the night was ORU's rebounding efforts, 42-28, with 17 offensive boards. Jordan Gilbert had five offensive boards and Regan Schumacher had four. ORU had 25 second chance points.
The Mastodons had three double-digit scorers and were led by Kierstyn Repp who shot 50 percent from the field for 15 points. Senior De'Jour Young was held to three points, but grabbed seven boards. Jaelencia Williams had 12 points and went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Purdue Fort Wayne only had four second chance points on six offensive rebounds.
Oral Roberts: Mayberry had 16 points and Gilbert had eight rebounds.
Purdue Fort Wayne: Repp led the team with 15 points while Young had seven rebounds.

The Golden Eagles host South Dakota State Saturday, February 2 at 2 p.m. inside the Mabee Center. As a part of the Hall of Fame weekend festivities, the Golden Eagles will retire All-American Kevi Luper's jersey at halftime.
