Golden Eagles Add Three to Next Year’s Class

Tulsa, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team and Head Coach Misti Cussen announced the addition of three athletes to next year's recruiting class with the signing of their National Letters of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.


ORU signed athletes from Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma. Maya Mayberry, a 5-8 point-guard from Fayetteville, Ark., signed with ORU and is the sister to current Golden Eagle women's basketball student-athlete, Kaylan Mayberry. Regan Schumacher from Olathe, Kansas, a 6-3 center, signed her National Letter of Intent to play for ORU on Wednesday along with Oklahoma in-state prospect Keni Jo Lippe, a
5-9 guard, from Adair High School.


"Our staff is very excited about this signing class, as it addresses several position needs for our program," Head Coach Misti Cussen said. "We couldn't be happier with the character and the work ethic these young women bring in as well. They are all fantastic fits here at ORU, and they will have outstanding playing careers in our system."


ORU will lose two players to graduation this spring. Kaylan Mayberry and Dorottya Balla are the two Golden Eagle seniors. The Golden Eagles will begin the 2016-17 season as a young team with nine of the 14 players on the roster classified as either freshman or sophomore.


The Golden Eagles will open the 2016-17 regular season on the road at Big 10 opponent Iowa on Friday, November 11 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The game will tipoff at 6 p.m.


Below is a look at all three signees for the Golden Eagles:


Keni Jo Lippe

5-9 | Guard | Adair, Okla. | Adair HS

High School: Keni Jo Lippe scored 1,676 career points and 588 career rebounds at Adair High School. She was nominated to the State Tournament first team her freshman through junior years. She was a Vype top-100 nominee as well as an elite eight nomine. She was a two-sport athlete and competed in cross country and track along with basketball. She was back-to-back state semi-finalist 2014-15 and 2015-16.

Personal: Daughter of Mark and Cristi Lippe … Favorite pro team is the Los Angeles Lakers and favorite pro athlete is Kobe Bryant … plans to major in pre-dentistry at ORU … Was recruited by Tulsa, Arkansas, Denver, Abilene Christian, Northeastern State and Pittsburg State.




Maya Mayberry

5-8 | Guard | Fayetteville, Ark. | Fayetteville HS

High School: Maya Mayberry played high school basketball at Fayetteville High School under Head Coach Victor Rimmer. She was a part of the 2015 State Championship squad and was a 2016 all-conference selection. She played AAU ball for Oklahoma PWP.

Personal: Daughter of Lee and Marla Mayberry … Favorite pro team is the Oklahoma City Thunder and favorite professional athlete is Kyrie Irving … Plans to major in exercise sports science or sports management at ORU … Was also recruited by Incarnate Word, New Mexico and Little Rock.


Regan Schumacher

6-3 | Center | Olathe, Kansas | Olathe East HS

Prior to ORU: Regan Schumacher played high school basketball at Olathe East High School uider Head Coach Clint Evans. She averaged eight points and six rebounds per game. She was second in field-goal percentage with 47 percent and was also second in steals and blocks. She led her team in rebounding.

Personal: Daughter of Scott Schumacher and Keri Gruber … Her favorite athlete(s) are Carl Hall, Ron Baker and Fred Van Vleet … She is plans to major in communications … Was also recruited by Pittsburg State, Colorado School of Mines, Air Force, Truman State and Denver.
