TULSA, Okla. – After rallying to a third place finish in the Summit League, winning five of the last seven games of the regular season, the Oral Roberts women's basketball team kept the momentum going all the way to the semifinals of the WBI.
The road to the WBI semifinals was not an easy one, as the Golden Eagles took to the road for all three games, beginning at Texas State. The ORU defense proved too much for the Bobcats in the second half as the Golden Eagles allowed just 22 points in the frame to come back and grab a 57-54 victory.
From San Marcos, Texas, it was off to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for ORU, where freshman Jordan Doyle was the hero with a straight-away 3-pointer to put ORU on top with 22 seconds to play. The Golden Eagles held on for a 63-61 win over New Mexico, earning a date with Louisiana, and another long road trip.
In what proved to be the final game of the season, ORU had a 35-23 lead at halftime, but gave up a furious rally to Louisiana, falling 65-64.
ORU finished the season 18-16 and 9-7 in Summit League play and the Golden Eagles made their fifth postseason appearance in the last six years.
