EUGENE, Ore. – Jaden Purnell lived on the edge throughout the postseason as the Oral Roberts sophomore claimed one of the final spots in the west preliminary meet and the very last qualifying spot in the NCAA Championship. Purnell made the most of his opportunity Friday moving up to finish 19th in the nation in the triple jump with a mark of 15.50m (50-10.24).

With the 19th place finish, Purnell will be a USTFCCCA Honorable Mention All-American, which will be officially announced at a later date.

In his second collegiate season, Purnell made huge gains in the triple jump, improving his season best by a full meter over his freshman best. His 2017 best of 15.80m (51-10) came in the NCAA West Preliminary meet to get him to the championship meet.

Purnell's competition Friday continued ORU's streak of having at least one student-athlete qualify for the NCAA National Championship meet every year since 1996.
