ORU Crowns Six Champs at Tulsa Duels

TULSA, Okla. – The outdoor season officially got underway this weekend as the Oral Roberts track and field teams went across town to compete in the Tulsa Duels. Including Tommy Dial's first career win, the Golden Eagles crowned a total of six individual event champions at the meet.

News & Notes
- Dial won the first competition of his career as the freshman cleared 16-4.75 in the victory.

- Amaya Christon claimed her second career victory in the long jump, having also won at the J.D. Martin Invitational January 17, 2015.

- This weekend's meet was the first of the outdoor season for the Golden Eagles.

- ORU had a total of 22 top five finishes at the meet, including a clean sweep of the top three spots in the men's pole vault. ORU went 2-3-4 in the men's 200m and 3-4-5 in the women's pole vault competitions.

- ORU set a number of career bests in the sprint events, but the wind was above the legal level.

- Blayne Hisquierdo finished ninth but set a career best in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:17.11.  His previous best was 4:33.77 during the 2014 outdoor season.
