Golden Eagles Put Together Strong Weekend Showings at ISU and WSU

WICHITA, Kan. - The Oral Roberts track and field team picked up seven event victories at the Herm Wilson Invitational hosted by Wichita State this weekend. 

  • Israel Nelson continues to dominate the 60 meter hurdles, picking up his fourth first-place finish of the season in the event. The sophomore from Port St. Lucie, Florida finished with a time of 7.85 seconds. His next closest opponent clocked an 8.17 time. 
  • Tamaira Williams, a Tulsa native, took the top spot in the 60 meter race with a mark of 7.55 seconds. The senior also claimed first in the 200 meter event with a time of 24.82 seconds. 
  • Junior Justin Estala won his third straight pole vault competition with a mark of 5.22 meters (17-1.50). 
  • Senior Joseph Reis-Herron picked up his third victory of the season in the 60 meter race, just missing a new personal best with a time of 6.80 seconds. 
  • Junior Tiffany Richeson tied a personal best with a mark of 4.00 meters (13-1.50) on her way to her second win of the season in the event. 
  • Omeiza Akerele also picked up a win for the Golden Eagles in the 400 meter event. The sophomore sprinter finished with a time of 48.70 seconds. 
  • Kirsten Burnett took second place in the triple jump with a mark of 12.41 meters (40-8.75). 
  • Bulawayo, Zimbabwe native Reinhard Ndlovu took third in the 400 meter race, finishing with a time of 49.39 seconds. 
  • Fellow vaulter Brittany McDonald finished just behind in third place with a vault of 3.76 meters (12-00.00). The mark also set a new personal best for the sophomore from Coleman, Oklahoma. 
  • Tulsa native Amaya Christon made her best finish of the season in the long jump with a second place finish with a mark of 5.63 meters (18-5.75). 
  • Lima, Ohio native Asher Roberts finished third in the 400 with a time of 57.66 seconds. 
  • Jaden Purnell took fifth place in the men's triple jump with a mark of 13.77 meters (45-2.25). It was the freshman's first top-5 finish of his career.

Location: Ames, Iowa

AMES, Iowa - Two ORU women made a separate trek to Ames, Iowa this weekend to compete in the 400 and 800 meter races at the Iowa State Classic. 

  • Madison Reynolds, a senior from Oklahoma City, finished fourth in the 400 meter with a time of 54.59. it marked her fourth top-4 individual finish of the indoor season. 
  • Sophomore Omega Reese finished fifth in the 800 among a highly competitive field of runners. The Tonkawa, Oklahoma native finished with a mark of 2:13.59, setting a new season-best in the event.
