Venable Earns USATF Award

TULSA, Okla. – Constantly involved in education, whether on the track or in the classroom, ORU Track and Field Assistant Coach Shawn Venable was rewarded for his efforts as he earned the Vern Gambetta Coaching Education Award from USA Track and Field.

"I am so thankful for the opportunity to be involved with USA Track and Field and was unspeakably humbled to receive the Vern Gambetta Coaching Education Award. Thank you to my wife, Ashley, for her unbelievable support and for allowing me to disappear for random weekends all over the country," said Venable.

The award is to recognize excellence in USA Track and Field Coaching Education. Venable has spent 8-10 weekends a year travelling to host and instruct USATF Level 1 schools. In 2014-15, he worked programs at ORU, Kansas City, Dallas, Nashville, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Miami and Seattle.

Venable was also asked to serve as a Coaching Education Regional Coordinator for the southeast, working to find areas that were underserved by the USATF coaching education program.
