TULSA, Okla. - In just her second year at Oral Roberts University, sophomore Madison Reynolds peaked at the right time and ended her season as an All-American in the 400m dash. Her trek to All-America honors is the top moment in ORU Athletics from the 2013-14 season.
It did not come easy for the two-time Southland Conference outdoor 400m dash champion, who began her trek 23rd in the west region in the event. Only the top 12 out of the region would advance, and a new personal best of 53.02 put her in that group, finishing 10th to advance to the semifinals in Eugene, Ore.
Again, it was a long shot to move up, entering the semis 20th out of 24 runners who qualified. For the fourth time in the final five races of the season, Reynolds lowered her lifetime best, running 52.87 to take 16th in the nation, earning second team All-America honors from the USTFCCCA.
Reynolds also became the second female ever at ORU to break 53 seconds in the event, and was the first female to earn at least second team All-America honors since Rachel Talbert finished third in the nation in the discus in 2010.
This is the ninth of 10 editions of the #TopORUMoments from 2013-14 as selected by the ORU Media Relations Department and a social media poll.
