TULSA, Okla. – After a solid season of work on the track and in the classroom, a pair of Oral Roberts University track and field athletes have earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. When the organization released its list on Friday, indoor All-American Justin Estala picked up the honor for the second time in his career, while Joseph Reis-Herron earned the distinction for the first time.
Estala earned USTFCCCA Second Team All-American honors in the pole vault during the indoor season with a 10th place finish at the NCAA Championship. With a 3.86 GPA, the sophomore also qualified for the postseason during the outdoor season, finishing 28th at the NCAA West Preliminary.
Reis-Herron qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary in the 100m dash and took seventh in his heat and finished 38th overall at the event. The junior holds a 3.2 GPA and was an All-Summit League selection in the 60m dash during the indoor season.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
- For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
