TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts athletic department has elevated head men's tennis coach Mark Milner to a newly created position, director of tennis. Milner will be responsible for the oversight of both the men's and women's tennis programs.
Milner began his tenure as the men's tennis head coach at Oral Roberts on July 18, 2012. During his time as head coach of the men's team, he has led the Golden Eagles to the Summit League tournament three of the four years competing in the conference. During the 2016-2017 season, Milner led the team to a runner-up finish in the league behind nationally ranked Denver.
"First, I'd like to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to work at such an amazing university," Milner said. "I'd also like to thank the athletic administration for believing in me enough to run both programs. I look forward to bringing both programs to the next level on and off the court."
Becoming the new director of tennis, Milner will now be responsible for the oversight of both the men's and women's tennis programs. He will be assisted by current men's assistant coach, Peter McCorkle and women's tennis assistant coach, Tin Ostojic.
"We are excited about the transition of Mark to the oversight of both the men's and women's tennis programs," ORU Athletic Director Mike Carter said. "Mark will do an excellent job overseeing both teams and will guide them to success under his direction. We are happy to have him in this position and applaud his dedication to ORU Tennis."
Milner is a 2007 graduate of Metropolitan State University of Denver. He was a two-time All-RMAC selection in both singles and doubles play, and he also earned Academic All-RMAC honors twice. He was also the assistant coach for both the men's and women's tennis programs. The Roadrunner men's program went to the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2012, its second trip under Milner's watch. In Milner's four seasons, the Roadrunners produced 12 All-RMAC honorees and nine Academic All-RMAC selections. 2012 graduate Lucio Cangiano won the ITA Central Region Singles Championship in each of his final two seasons under Milner's tutelage.
Coach Milner and his wife, Tiffany, have two daughters, Scarlett and Amelia.
