TULSA, Okla. -- Oral Roberts University men's soccer head coach Ryan Bush has announced the schedule for the Golden Eagles' 2016 campaign, which features nine matches at the Case Soccer Complex, three contests against teams that participated in the 2015 NCAA tournament, and four top-50 RPI opponents from a year ago.
"The 2016 schedule has shaped up nicely for where we want to go as a program. We have several teams that were ranked in the top 25 a year ago and we want to play the best week in and week out," Bush said. "This year's schedule is designed to prepare us for conference play and beyond. We are excited to have some of the best college soccer programs in the country represented on our schedule in 2016."
The Golden Eagles will play two preseason exhibition games at home against USAO (August 18) and Drury (August 21) before opening the regular season with four-straight road contests.
ORU will open the regular season with a pair of games in Texas with the first coming against Incarnate Word (August 21) in San Antonino before traveling to Dallas for a neutral site affair with Michigan State (August 28).
Oral Roberts will then head to the Pacific Northwest for a pair of games with Gonzaga (September 1) and Washington (September 4) before returning to Oklahoma to for two games against Southland Conference members UIW (September 9) and Houston Baptist (September 11).
The Golden Eagles homestand will have a brief interruption as the team heads east for a match with regional rival Missouri State (September 16), before returning to the Case Soccer Complex to host Eastern Illinois (September 24) to open Summit League action.
The Golden Eagles will host fellow League members IPFW (October 1), IUPUI (October 15), and Omaha (November 5) at the Case Soccer Complex.
ORU will take on Western Illinois (October 8) on the road before facing Summit League Champions Denver in a rematch of the 2015 title game October 22 in Denver.
Oral Roberts will again faceoff with cross town rival Tulsa this season on the North Side October 18 at the Hurricane Soccer Complex. ORU's final road test will come October 30 when the team heads to New York to take on Buffalo in a nonconference contest.
