Golden Eagles to visit UCA on Tuesday

TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts University men's soccer team takes the pitch for the first time in more than a week on Tuesday as the Golden Eagles travel to Central Arkansas for a non-league contest.

Originally scheduled as the season opener on August 28, the match was postponed due to inclement weather in vicinity of Conway, Arkansas. Kickoff for Tuesday's match is set for 5:30 p.m.

In its last match on October 18, ORU (5-6-2) got goals from Johnny Chavez and Tarik Salkicic to top IUPUI 2-1 at the Case Soccer Complex. The win over the Jaguars snapped a four-match winless stretch in which the Golden Eagles didn't score a goal.

Chavez' goal against the Jaguars was his team-high fifth of the season, the third-most in the Summit League. Matthew Rogers has played well in his sophomore season, netting three goals, and Salkicic, Juan Diego Padilla and Gerardo Salas have each put in two goals.

Alex White is second in the league with five assists.

UCA (2-11-1) has struggled this season on the defensive side of the pitch as the Bears are being outscored by opponents 29-8. The Bears are winless in their last 11 matches.

Senior midfielder Logan Miller, sophomore attacker Wes Carson and sophomore midfielder Alejandro Moquete have each netted two goals to lead the Bears.

ORU and UCA split a pair of matches last season, with the Bears taking the first contest in Conway, 1-0, and the Golden Eagles avenging the early loss with a 2-1 win in double-overtime at the Case Soccer Complex. The Bears lead the all-time series 5-4 over the Golden Eagles.

The two teams will play again next Tuesday in Tulsa in the final non-league contest of the year.
