ORU looks to move to 2-0 at Houston Baptist

TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts University men's soccer team looks to go 2-0 for the first time since 2010 as the Golden Eagles play the first of four-straight road matches on Friday at Houston Baptist. Kickoff between ORU and HBU is scheduled for 5 p.m.

ORU (1-0-0) opened the regular season at the Case Soccer Complex on Monday with a 1-0 victory in double overtime over Missouri Valley Conference preseason favorites Missouri State. Johnny Chavez scored the Golden Goal in the 104th minute with a header following a free kick by Alex White.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ben LaCourse was outstanding in the opening victory as he picked up five saves. The Tulsa native was named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for his efforts against MSU.

HBU (0-0-1) opened its season last Friday and finished in a 2-2 draw at Drake, with senior Patrick Toh netting both goals for the Huskies. A member of the Western Athletic Conference in men's soccer, the Huskies were picked to finish tied for seventh in the conference preseason poll with ORU's Sunday opponent, Incarnate Word.

Sophomore forward Tobenna Uzo led the HBU offense with 11 goals last season. Uzo was named to the All-WAC Second Team last season, and was selected as the WAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.

ORU is winless against the Huskies in the previous five matches between the teams dating back to the 2010 season. Last season, Uzo scored three goals in a pair of matches against ORU. HBU won the first match, 2-1, in double-overtime at the Case Soccer Complex, and shutout the Golden Eagles in Houston, 2-0.

The Golden Eagles last victory against the Huskies came in the first ever meeting between the two programs on September 13, 2009, at the Case Soccer Complex. HBU leads the all-time series, 5-1.
