TULSA, Okla. – After leading the league with 10 goals scored, Oral Roberts senior Johnny Chavez was named the Summit League's Offensive Player of the Year.
Chavez helped ORU to a share of its first regular season title since 2004 and became the first Golden Eagle to win the league's top honor since Dave Leung won it in 2004 and again in 2005.
Chavez went on to earn first team NSCAA All-Region honors and following graduation signed a deal to play with the Tulsa Roughnecks of the USL Professional League.
During the season, Chavez had three game-winners and scored the most goals in a season since ORU Hall of Famer Trey Vaut netted 10 goals in 2003.
Chavez wasn't the only Golden Eagle recognized by the conference as Gerardo Salas earned first team all-league honors, while Kaspars Kokis and Tarik Salkicic each earned spots on the all-newcomer team.
This is the ninth of 15 editions of the #TopORUMoments from 2014-15 as selected by the ORU Media Relations Department and a social media poll.
