SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Three teams received multiple first-place votes, but it was South Dakota that emerged from the pack to top The Summit League's Men's Golf preseason poll released Friday by league officials. The Coyotes garnered four first-place tallies and edged Denver, who received three, to claim the top spot by two points. Oral Roberts was third with 49 points while defending champion North Dakota State was picked fourth with 48 points.
ORU senior Cody Burrows, who finished the fall second in scoring, was named as a Golfer to Watch.
The Bison received the remaining two first-place votes, but will have to defend their title on a different course as The 2019 Championship moves to the Sand Creek Station Golf Club in Newton, Kan., this season (April 28-30).
South Dakota State was picked fifth (39) while Purdue Fort Wayne (28) and Omaha (28) tied for sixth. Western Illinois (15) and league newcomer North Dakota (9) rounded out the poll.

- Burrows is second in The Summit League in scoring average at 72.2 through 15 rounds in the fall.
- Burrows had the highest individual finish of the fall for ORU finishing second with a -8, 208 (68-71-69) in the opening tournament of the year.
- As a team, ORU is second in scoring at 294.1. South Dakota posted the best fall, averaging 291.7 strokes per round.
- ORU finished as high as third in two separate tournaments during the fall season, taking third at the Memphis Invitational and again at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate.
