TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts head men's basketball coach Paul Mills got a chance to outline his direction for the Golden Eagles in a town hall meeting with season ticket holders Monday night at the Mabee Center.
"I wanted a job where I was going to be around the right people," Coach Mills expressed to the crowd. "The people at ORU love ORU and they are passionate about for what this university stands for. It is a privilege for me and my staff to represent this university and do whatever it takes to make this program better, while doing it in a way to honor and glorify God."
With the start of the 2017-18 campaign rapidly approaching, Coach Mills delighted those in attendance with his goal "to be the best mid-major program in the entire country." He also voiced his desire to play a fast, inside-out game and pressure full court, noting his email signature uses the phrase "Press On" in reference to Philippians urging us to "press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called."
Taking the mindset of how do we make ORU better every single day, he and his staff are dedicated to increased interaction with the student body and getting to know the kids on campus and their unique stories.
Coach Mills was hired as the 11th head coach in ORU program history April 28, 2016, following 14 years working at Baylor.
