TULSA, Okla. – After a successful collegiate career at Oral Roberts, men's basketball graduate Obi Emegano will continue his playing career in Italy as a member of the A.S. Junior Casale team.
During his senior year, Emegano was a DI-AAA ADA Scholar-Athlete, a first team All-Summit League selection and finished the year tied for 8th in the nation in scoring at 23.1 points per game. He is top 10 in ORU history in points in a season (669), free throws made in a season (198) and free throw percentage (.853). He was the Men Against Breast Cancer Classic Tournament MVP and was one of four finalists for the CCR Mid-Major Player of the Year Award.
"We are really excited and proud of Obi," said Coach Scott Sutton. "He's worked extremely hard to get to this point and I believe this will be the start of a very long and successful professional career."
Prior to signing in Italy, Emegano had summer workouts with the Orlando Magic and Utah Jazz.
A.S. Junior Casale Coach Marco Ramondino had this to say about the addition of Emegano: "We welcome Obi Emegano with great enthusiasm for many reasons, including the good feeling had from talks with the player and people who have worked with him. Offensively, he can take advantage in different ways and, most importantly, knows the pace of the game. Defensively he is a reliable player in addition to being an important added rebounder. Despite his age, he is a very mature guy and we are very pleased to have added a technical player with personality and quality."
