Get to Know: MBB Signee DaQuan Jeffries

TULSA, Okla. – Edmond continues to be a hot bed of talent for the Oral Roberts men's basketball team. In addition to 2014-15 starters Obi Emegano (Memorial) and Aaron Young (Memorial), the Golden Eagles also have redshirt junior Aaron Anderson (Santa Fe) waiting in the wings. The latest addition to the roster is DaQuan Jeffries, who signed with ORU out of Santa Fe High School in April.

Helping his high school team to a state runner-up finish, Jeffries was an All-State selection and was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference. As a senior, Jeffries averaged 16 points and eight rebounds per game.

"We are obviously excited about DaQuan joining the program," said Coach Scott Sutton. "He's a tremendous athlete and very versatile. He has a chance to be an outstanding defender and has really improved his skill the last year and I think will come in and contribute right away."

Santa Fe Head Coach Lenny Hatchett echoed the athleticism of Jeffries, telling the Oklahoman:  "He was able to guard all five positions. He's very humble, and the most athletic player I have coached."

Over the summer, Jeffries has shown off that athleticism, winning the dunk contests at both the 50th Annual Faith 7 Bowl All-Star game and the Big All-City Dunk Contest.

Jeffries was also recruited by UTEP, UNC Greensboro, Hawaii and Fresno State, but chose to make the Mabee Center his home court.
