TULSA, Okla.- After leading a cast of four double-figure scorers in ORU's PSO Mayor's Cup victory over Tulsa, redshirt-sophomore guard Obi Emegano has been named the Southland Conference Player of the Week it was announced on Monday.
Emegano scored 19 points, tied for game-high honors, and was 13-14 from the free throw line, hitting 13 in a row after missing his first attempt of the game. In the final five minutes, Emegano went 10-10 from the charity stripe to help ORU hold its lead. Emegano finished as the team's leading scorer (19), and led the team in assists (3) and free throws made (13).
The PSO Mayor's Cup returned to south Tulsa for the first time since 2007 with the victory. The win was also the first season opening win on the road for ORU since the 1981 season.
The Golden Eagles' schedule does not get any easier as they travel up to Manhattan, Kan., to take on the Wildcats from Kansas State on Wednesday, November 13.
