Pace Attains Academic All-Summit League Award

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Oral Roberts outfielder Andrew Pace was selected to the 2019 Academic All-Summit League Team for his combined efforts on and off the baseball field as announced by the league office Wednesday. The entire squad is selected by the institution's faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors.

The senior from Beaumont, Texas, was a Second Team All-Summit League performer in his final collegiate campaign with the Golden Eagles as a consistent force offensively and defensively, while carrying a 3.57 grade point average in the sports management program. He becomes the sixth player in ORU history to earn the academic honor.

Pace rode a 37-game streak of reaching base safely into the final week of the regular season and reached base in all but five of 52 games played in 2019. It was the second-longest streak for any ORU player in the last 20 years.

He tied for fifth in The Summit League totaling 12 doubles and 56 hits, thanks to a pair of four-hit contests, setting a career high February 16 and April 27. Pace also ranked in the top 20 of the conference in RBI, runs scored and batting average and was the league's first Player of the Week starting the season.

To be eligible for The Summit League Academic All-League Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.
