ORU Suffers Mid-Week Setback at Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark. – Three players had multi-hit efforts for the Oral Roberts baseball team in a 9-3 loss to Central Arkansas Tuesday night at Bear Stadium.


Spencer Henson, Jake McMurray and Anthony Martinez each tallied a pair of hits with Martinez posting the only extra-base knock, a double in the fourth, as the trio combined for six of the Golden Eagles seven hits.


Hunter Wilson drew a walk opening the game and came around to score on a RBI single from Henson taking a quick 1-0 lead on the road. The Bears answered by tallying three runs in the bottom half of the inning erasing the ORU margin.


Henson delivered again in the second evening the game 3-3 plating a pair on a two-run single as the junior brought home all three runs in a 2-for-4 day at the plate.


Turning Point

UCA broke the 3-3 tie in the bottom of the second inning scoring three runs as the home side struck for six-consecutive runs to secure the mid-week victory. The Bears capitalized on three free passes and an error in the frame scoring on a RBI single, sacrifice fly and bases-loaded walk.


Inside the Box Score

- McMurray made his ORU debut one to remember as he hit a single in his first collegiate at bat in the second inning. The true freshman scored on Henson's swing and later added a single back up the middle in the sixth going 2-for-3.


- AJ Archambo struck out four-straight batters closing his day on the mound, including all three Bears he faced in the fourth inning, pitching 1.2 innings from the bullpen. Caleb Lee pitched two innings in his first outing as a Golden Eagle and fanned three.


- ORU used six pitchers in the contest with only Lee throwing at least two innings as the staff combined to strike out 12 opposing hitters.
