TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts baseball shortstop Trevin Sonnier has signed a professional contract with the Chicago White Sox organization, head coach Ryan Folmar announced Thursday.
Sonnier wrapped up his career at ORU starting every game at shortstop. The Nederland, Texas product was recognized as one of the best shortstops in the country earlier in the year when he was named to the Brooks Wallace Watch List.
Overall, Sonnier finished his lone season with the Golden Eagles with a .308 average on 65 base hits. He went for 13 doubles and a pair of home runs. He also showed speed on the bases with 11 stolen bases.
This marks the second Golden Eagles to sign a professional contract this year after reliever Holden Cammack was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 16th round of the 2016 MLB Draft.
