ELMHURST, Ill. - Oral Roberts University sophomore pitcher Kyler Stout was recognized for his work out of the bullpen in the opening series as he was named the Summit League Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Monday.
Stout, a native of Broken Arrow, Okla., made appearances in the first two games of the season against Memphis, recording saves in each.
Friday in the season opener, Stout entered the game and pitched a perfect ninth inning to record his first collegiate save. His second save of the season came in game one of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers, entering the game with one out in the eighth, sitting all five batters faced.
IPFW outfielder Shane Trevino was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week.
ORU (2-1) returns to action this weekend as the Golden Eagles host SIU Edwardsville in a three-game set. First pitch of the series is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
