2014-15 #TopORUMoments; #5 – Baseball Has Pair of All-Americans

TULSA, Okla. – After an incredible 40-win season that included wins over some of the top teams in the nation, the Oral Roberts baseball team had a pair of athletes pick up All-America honors.

Summit League Player of the Year Anthony Sequeira was named a second team utility All-American by Louisville Slugger after leading the team with 11 homeruns. He was named one of three finalists for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award after hitting .341 for the season and notching 11 saves on the mound with 40 strikeouts and just 11 walks. Sequeira was the first player off the board in the 2015 MLB Draft, going in the 23rd round to the Philadelphia Phillies.

Matt Whatley was named a Freshman All-American by Louisville Slugger, the first freshman since 2012 to earn All-America honors. Whatley led ORU with a .355 batting average from the leadoff spot and was the 2015 Summit League Newcomer of the Year. He had 44 RBIs, which was second on the team, and scored 56 runs to lead the way, ranking in the top 50 nationally. He went 6-for-10 in ORU's NCAA Tournament games, earning All-Tournament honors for the Stillwater Regional.
