Three ORU Programs Receive APR Public Recognition

INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA announced its Public Recognition Awards this week, including three Oral Roberts teams; men's and women's golf and men's cross country. It is the third year in a row in which the ORU women's golf team has earned the distinction and the second year in a row for the men's golf team.

With three programs earning the honor, ORU was tied with North Dakota and Purdue Fort Wayne for the most in The Summit League this year.

Based on the most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) from the 2014-15 through 2017-18 academic years, these teams have earned NCAA Public Recognition Awards for posting scores in the top 10 percent of their sport.

The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams.

The NCAA has recognized more than 1,300 programs from 321 schools for academic excellence after they scored in the top 10% of their sports in the most recent Academic Progress Rate results.

"Congratulations to the programs earning Public Recognition Awards for their commitment to academic success," NCAA President Mark Emmert said. "The number of perfect scores this year is an indication that schools and student-athletes are setting high bars for achievement, and we are proud that they are continuing to succeed academically as well as athletically."
