TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts' men's and women's tennis teams both earned spots in the Summit League Tournament that will be held on April 28 and 29 in Indianapolis. The men's team will be the No. 2 seed and the women's team will be No. 3 in their respective brackets.
The Denver Pioneers hold the No. 1 seed and look to claim their fourth consecutive titles on both the men's and women's sides at the 2017 Summit League Tennis Championships. First round play opens Friday, April 28 in Indianapolis where IUPUI plays host to its first league tennis championship since 2005.
Friday's opening round begins at 10 a.m. CST with men's semifinal action. Top-seeded Denver (11-12, 4-0 Summit) meets No. 4 seed IUPUI (7-19, 1-3) at the West Indy Racquet Club. Play between No. 2 seed Oral Roberts (9-11, 3-1) and No. 3 Omaha (8-12, 2-2) also begins at 11 a.m. at the Park Tudor School site.
The women's tournament begins semifinal action Friday at 3 p.m. when top-seeded Denver (16-6, 6-0 Summit) faces No. 4 IUPUI (5-17, 3-3) at the West Indy Racquet Club. No. 2 seed South Dakota (8-13, 4-2) and No. 3 seed Oral Roberts (14-10, 3-3) start their match at 3 p.m. at Park Tudor School.
Saturday's championship action begins at 10 a.m. with the men's title match followed by the women at 2 p.m., both at West Indy Racquet Club. The women's and men's Summit League champions advance to the NCAA Tournament as automatic qualifiers.
