TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team looks to extend a recent winning streak returning home for a mid-week matchup against South Dakota State Tuesday night. First serve between the Golden Eagles and Jackrabbits is slated for 7 p.m. at the Aerobics Center.
•ORU plays its third match in five days, coming in the third different state, as it returns home to face the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State. The Golden Eagles went on the road last weekend and swept Purdue Fort Wayne and Western Illinois for their first Summit League wins of the season and look to make it three straight Tuesday night.
•Increased consistency at the net by ORU in 2018 has led to a league-leading 2.13 blocks per set. Junior Bri Greenlee's dominant blocking weekend not only earned her Defensive Player of the Week honors, but moved her to fourth in the conference averaging 0.98 blocks per set, while sophomore Morgan Blomquist ranks fourth in total blocks (67). Greenlee is the only player in the NCAA to post 11 or more blocks in multiple, four-set matches this season.
•Libero Tori Roe currently ranks 41st in the nation with 340 digs, totaling 16 or more in 14 of 17 appearances this season, including a career-best 28 on four occasions. The senior ranks second in the conference averaging 4.86 digs per set helping ORU rank 34th in the NCAA in that category. She currently ranks fourth in ORU history with 1,413 digs after becoming the program's 10th player to eclipse 1,000 digs last season.
•Bria Bergman has averaged 9.40 assists per set, ranking sixth in the league, aided by a career-high 56 set assists at North Dakota. The senior is the top attacking setter in the conference with 69 kills and paces the Golden Eagles with nine double-doubles this year.
•South Dakota State makes the trip to the Aerobics Center winless in league play (0-5) after dropping eight of its last nine contests. Makenzie Hennen leads the Jackrabbits averaging 3.40 kills per set, ranking third in the league, while three players average more than two digs per set defensively. SDSU also ranks third in The Summit League as a team posting 1.44 service aces per set.
•Head Coach Sheera Sirola, ORU's all-time winningest coach, welcomed two newcomers to the lineup, both freshmen, as setter Sylvia Lawson (Joplin, Missouri) and outside hitter Inka Inkret (Ivanec, Croatia) joined the squad for 2018. Inkret has become a go-to option offensively leading the team in kills four times.
•The Golden Eagles have reached the conference tournament each of the last six seasons, including a spot in the 2017 championship match. ORU made its first postseason appearance since 2006 when it was invited to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship last year.
