TULSA, Okla. – For the first time since the 2009 season, the Oral Roberts volleyball team will host a tournament at the Aerobics Center welcoming Tulsa, Central Arkansas and Wyoming for the ORU Invitational Sept. 15-16. The action is set to begin Friday night at 5 p.m., before the Golden Eagles face cross-town rivals the Golden Hurricane in the home opener at 7:30 p.m., and concludes Saturday with four matches starting at 11 a.m.

OPENING SERVE

•After travel plans were altered by Hurricane Irma and the cancelation of the USF Classic, ORU found a pair of matches at the UCA Classic last Friday and claimed victories over Central Florida and Southern. The Golden Eagles now have won three of their last four contests heading into a five-match home stretch and their first home tournament since 2009.

•ORU meets Tulsa for the 80th time in program history with the Golden Eagles holding a 59-20 edge. The Golden Hurricane dropped two of three at the SFA Invitational last weekend following a three-match sweep at the SIUE Cougar Classic.

•Central Arkansas comes to Tulsa on a hot streak having won eight-straight matches to start the year, with six coming via sweep, before falling to UCF in its home tournament finale Saturday. ORU has posted a 6-3 all-time record against the Sugar Bears.

•Wyoming opened the campaign playing at home six times prior to a trip to Malibu, California, for the Pepperdine Asics Classic and enters the weekend having lost four straight. The Golden Eagles and Cowgirls have never met on the volleyball court.

Laura Milos was named Summit League Player of the Week for the 12th time in her career Monday, tying the all-time record for most weekly honors. She paces ORU and the league with 156 kills averaging 5.03 kills per set, which ranks fifth nationally. Her 22 kills against UCF was the third time in nine appearances reaching 20 or more kills in a match this season.

•Setters Bria Bergman and Lucija Bojanjac continue to split time with Bergman tallying 164 set assists, while Bojanjac has totaled 152 as she is 166 assists away from tying the all-time record at ORU.

CeCe Madison continues her impressive start for the navy and gold reaching double-figure kills in six matches, including a team-leading 13 in ORU's last outing against Southern. The sophomore is averaging 3.29 kills per set and added nine service aces.

•ORU returned all six starters as well as its libero from a 2016 squad that advanced to the conference tournament semifinals for the first time in The Summit League since 2011.

•Head Coach Sheera Sirola, ORU's all-time winningest coach, welcomed seven newcomers to the lineup, including two transfers and five freshmen.

•The Golden Eagles have reached the conference tournament each of the last five seasons. They were eliminated in the semifinals by host and top-seed Denver in 2016.
