ORU Women’s Basketball Adds to 2017 Team

Tulsa, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team and Head Coach Misti Cussen announced the addition of Rylie Torrey to the 2017 recruiting class to play for the Golden Eagles.

Torrey will transfer to Oral Roberts as a redshirt junior from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, but due to NCAA transfer regulations she will sit out of the 2017-18 season. Torrey originally signed to play for the Golden Eagles out of high school for the 2015-16 season, but transferred to Northern Oklahoma College in Enid, Oklahoma, in July 2015.

 

At NOC-Enid, Torrey made the All-Region II and All-Tournament teams. She also made NJCAA All-American Honorable mention. Torrey holds the NJCAA record with 54 most consecutive free-throws made. She broke the NOC-Enid record for most three-point shots made in a season and in a game. She Averaged 17 points and 4.1 rebounds per game along with being a 38.4 percent three-point shooter and 94.7 percent free-throw shooter.

Torrey transferred to Northeastern State to participate in the 2016-17 season with the Riverhawks. Torrey played in all 27 games during the season and averaged 16.4 points per game along with 2.7 rebounds. She had a 41.2 overall field goal percentage with a 36.7 percent three-point average. She made 89.7 percent of her free-throws as well. Torrey had a season high of 32 points at Southwest Baptist. Torrey was named to the All-MIAA Conference Third Team for her efforts during the season.
 

Torrey is from Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and is the daughter of Dusty and Raye Torrey. In high school, she was the Player of the Year by the Tulsa World and Vype Miss Basketball. Torrey was named to the Tulsa World All-State First Team, Daily Oklahoman All-State First Team and named Ford Player of the State Championship. She was the Grand Lake of the Cherokees MVP and the 4A State Tournament MVP.

High School: Rylie Torrey was a dual sport athlete in high school by participating in basketball, track and cheerleading. She was named OCA All-State and OGBCA All-State … As a sophomore and junior she was selected to the All-State Second Team by the Daily Oklahoman … Torrey was an All-American Cheerleader, class Valedictorian and Wendy's Heisman State Winner.

Personal: Daughter of Dusty and Raye Torrey … Plans to major in Health and Exercise Science.
