ORU Women’s Basketball Adds to 2017 Signing Class

Tulsa, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team and Head Coach Misti Cussen announced the addition of Sarah Garvie to the 2017 recruiting class with the signing of her National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.

ORU signed junior college transfer Sarah Garvie to the 2017 recruiting class. Garvie will transfer to Oral Roberts as a true sophomore from Northern Oklahoma College in Enid, Oklahoma, where she was named to the NJCAA All-Region 2 first team and made the All-Region Tournament Team. During her time at NOC Enid, Garvie tied the school record by making eight three-point buckets in one game for a career high of 27 points.

"Sarah is going to be a wonderful fit to our program and university," Head Coach Misti Cussen said. "On the floor she fills a specific need for us as a long range shooter. Her shot release and accuracy were outstanding in high school, and this past season she has really shortened the amount of time she needs to get her shot off. Our School of Nursing is getting an outstanding student and future nurse in Sarah. We are excited to welcome the entire Garvie family in to our own."

Garvie is from Burlington, Oklahoma, and is the daughter of Brent and Vanessa Garvie. She is expected to major in nursing at ORU and chose to sign with the Golden Eagles over the University of Central Oklahoma, Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Northeastern State University. She chose to come to ORU because she felt it was a perfect fit for her and because of the Christ-centered nursing and women's basketball programs. ORU also gives her the opportunity to compete at the Division-1 level.
