IOWA CITY, Iowa. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team fell short at Big 10 opponent Iowa 96-76 Friday evening in the team's first game of the season.
The Golden Eagles put points on the board first when Faith Ihim scored a layup. The Hawkeyes shot well and led ORU 26-16 at the end of the first quarter. The Golden Eagles had a 28 percent shooting percentage in the first half and trailed at halftime 53-30.
ORU made adjustments at halftime and in the second half the team shot 43 percent from the field. The Golden Eagles outscored the Hawkeyes in the second half by three points.
ORU closed in on the deficit in the fourth quarter when the team narrowed the scoring gap to 12 points with four minutes remaining in the game.
Iowa: Ally Disterhoft scored 29 points and seven total rebounds.
