ORU Releases Nonconference Slate

2017-18 ORU Men's Basketball Schedule

ELMHURST, Ill. – The finishing touches have been put on the Oral Roberts men's basketball schedule, which was released Tuesday. The Golden Eagles will play six nonconference home games and will also compete in the Legends Classic, which will take ORU to Stillwater, Oklahoma, State College, Pennsylvania, and Malibu, California.

"Opening games in college basketball are exciting," said Head Coach Paul Mills. "The chance to open at home versus Avila University on November 10th in front of a homecoming crowd will be a great opportunity and we will be prepared. The schedule affords us regional and national match ups before we get into Summit League play.  I'm glad the schedule permits us to open league play at home as we begin league play on December 30th.  I'm excited about the challenge and opportunities this schedule permits our players."

Important Dates
- November 10 vs. Avila – Home opener/Homecoming Weekend

- November 13 at Tulsa – Mayor's Cup Game

- December 30 vs. Omaha – Summit League opener

- January 20 vs. Denver – Hall of Fame Weekend

News and Notes
- ORU will open the season at home for the third time in four years.

- For the first time since the 2013-14 season, ORU will also begin Summit League play at the Mabee Center.

- The Golden Eagles will face Oklahoma State November 16. The two teams have met 20 times dating back to 1975, but have not met since a 74-59 ORU victory in the 2007 All-College Classic in Oklahoma City.

- ORU will have five first time opponents; Avila, Penn State, Florida Gulf Coast, East Texas Baptist and Nebraska Christian.

- ORU will log plenty of miles this year, traveling to California, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Florida.

- As part of the 2017 Legends Classic, ORU will travel to Oklahoma State (November 16) and Penn State (November 24), with a trip to Malibu, California, in between to face Montana (November 20) and either UC Santa Barbara or Pepperdine (November 21).

- An old rival returns to the Mabee Center November 27 as ORU hosts Oakland. The two teams played 31 times between 1999 and 2012 as members of the Mid-Con/Summit League.
