KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With a 3.10 team GPA, the Oral Roberts men's basketball team has earned the Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), it was announced Wednesday by the organization.
In its fifth year of existence, the award recognizes outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2016-17 season.
ORU's 2016-17 squad had nine student-athletes with a cumulative GPA above 3.0, including Albert Owens, who was the ORU History Student of the Year and graduated in three years with a 3.64 cumulative GPA and a 3.80 GPA in the spring semester.
