Folmar Selected as OBCA Coach of the Year

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oral Roberts head baseball coach Ryan Folmar was honored as the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association College Coach of the Year for 2017 at the OBCA Hall of Fame Banquet Saturday night in Stillwater.

The OBCA College Coach of the Year is awarded to an outstanding coach among NCAA Division I and II, NAIA and NJCAA head coaches in the state of Oklahoma.

"I am very proud of Coach Folmar for this deserving award from his peers," said Mike Carter, ORU's Director of Athletics. "His commitment to this program and the culture he has developed is a model for all to achieve. He truly is helping develop Whole Person Champions here at ORU."

In his fifth season at the helm of the Golden Eagles, Folmar led the team to Summit League regular season and tournament titles in 2017 and his third-straight honor as Summit League Coach of the Year. Finishing with a 43-16 record, ORU reached the NCAA Fayetteville Regional where the navy and gold earned Coach Folmar his first-ever postseason victory, coming in a 14-6 win over in-state rival Oklahoma State.

Folmar has posted a career record of 177-111 (.615) in his five season leading the Golden Eagles and coached 15 Major League Baseball draft picks along with 41 all-conference selections.

Folmar and the Golden Eagles continue preparations for the 2018 season, which begins Feb. 16 at J.L. Johnson Stadium with Utah making the trip to south Tulsa.
