TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts baseball team took advantage of a four-hit effort from the pitching staff in a 6-0 shutout of Omaha, breaking the game open behind a five-run, sixth inning Saturday afternoon at J.L. Johnson Stadium.

Golden Eagle pitchers Josh McMinn, Grant Glaze and Bryce Howe combined to shut down the Mavericks over nine innings allowing just four hits for the second-consecutive shutout during the conference clash.

After a slow start offensively, Brent Williams turned on the first pitch he saw in the fourth frame for a solo home run and Trevor McCutchin made the statement swing for ORU in the sixth. With the bases loaded, the sophomore pulled a triple into the right-field corner to plate three runs.

Quote of the Game

"Josh (McMinn) did not have his best stuff, but he gutted through and grinded through five innings that we really needed at that point. We weren't doing much offensively, and Josh showed a lot of toughness by really hanging in there and grinding through five innings. I thought he was the difference." – Head Coach Ryan Folmar

Turning Point

ORU turned a one-run contest into a decisive victory by scoring five times in the sixth inning. The first three batters all reached safely as Cal Hernandez singled, Matt Whatley walked and Noah Cummings singled to load the bases. Omaha got the first out before Dylan Snypes stretched the lead to 2-0 with an RBI single to right. McCutchin jumped on the first, two-out pitch he faced belting a triple just inside the foul line in right scoring three and Sam Grellner dropped a RBI single into shallow right closing the run production for the Golden Eagles.
