TULSA, Okla. -- Oral Roberts reliever Holden Cammack was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 16th round (Pick 494) of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft on Saturday during the final day of the three-day, 40-round amateur draft.
The Colleyville, Texas product went for three saves and a 2.32 ERA in 20 appearances out of the bullpen this year. A right-hander, Cammack showed a knack for the strikeout, retiring 40 batters on strikes in only 31 innings of work. On the season, Cammack allowed just 15 base hits and held opponents to a .142 average against.
With the Cubs pick of Cammack, it marks the 21st consecutive season that ORU has had a player drafted.
ORU is set to return all but seven players from the 2016 team that finished 38-21. The Golden Eagles won their 17th Summit League Championship and advanced to an NCAA Regional for the second consecutive season and 26th in program history.
