Golden Eagles hosts in-state Northeastern State on Tuesday
TULSA, Okla. – A busy stretch of three games in five days finishes Tuesday as the Oral Roberts University women’s soccer hosts in-state opponent Northeastern State. Kickoff between the Golden Eagles and RiverHawks is set for 7 p.m. at the Case Soccer Complex.
ORU (0-2-2) is coming off a pair of back-to-back draws this past weekend against UMKC on Friday, and Missouri State on Sunday.
Maria Stordahl scored the first Golden Eagle goal of the season in a 1-1 contest against UMKC. In a 2-2 draw on Sunday, freshman Amanda Dial netted her first career goal, and Kayla Keller added a goal in the second half. Madison Valenzuela recorded assists on all three weekend goals, and has the second most assists in the Summit League through the first two weeks of play.
Tuesday’s contest is scheduled as an exhibition for the RiverHawks, as they kick off their regular season September 9 at Northwestern Oklahoma State. NSU finished the 2013 season with a 15-4 overall mark, and was second in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Association at 8-3.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Woodruff highlighted the postseason honors for the RiverHawks last season, winning the MIAA Goalkeeper of the Year and being named First Team All-MIAA as a freshman. Woodruff started all 19 matches last season, allowing 14 goals and recording 10 shutouts.
The Golden Eagles have never lost a regular season contest against NSU, winning the first nine meetings by an average of more than two goals a match. Tuesday’s match is the first regular season meeting against the RiverHawks since October 23, 2007.
