SAN JOSE, Costa Rica - Newcomer Vicky McIntyre posted 17 points and 14 rebounds as the Oral Roberts University women’s basketball team won the second game of their summer tour, 66-42, over the Costa Rica national team. ORU finishes the competitive part of the tour 2-0.

McIntyre was 8-for-12 from the field and also blocked four shots. For the trip, the University of Florida transfer led the Golden Eagles in both categories, at 12.5 ppg and 9.5 rpg.

Freshman Jayden Oliver also had a big night, finishing with 12 points. Oliver was named Game MVP by the Costa Rican team after the game.

ORU shot 45.2% (28-for-62) from the field and was 8-for-10 (80.0%) from the free throw line.

Two other Golden Eagles followed strong Saturday efforts by filling the stat sheet on Sunday night. Atoe' Jackson finished with seven points, four rebounds and six steals, while Faith Ihim tallied seven points and six boards.

Jordan Gilbert led ORU with three assists, while Jackson and Oliver had two each.

ORU was sluggish to start the game and led just 10-9 after one quarter. But the Golden Eagles dominated the 2nd and 3rd quarters, winning 25-9 and 19-6, respectively.

Newcomers accounted for 42 of the team’s 66 points on Sunday night. In the two-game tour, ORU’s incoming class scored 55.3% of the squad’s points.

Earlier in the day, ORU took a walking tour of San Jose, the capital city. The team visited the National Museum, the Legislative Assembly and the San Jose Central Park, among other sites.

Though the basketball portion of the trip has concluded, ORU will remain in Costa Rica until Aug. 10, visiting several more national landmarks and participating in service projects.
The 2014-15 Golden Eagle season begins on Nov. 1, with an exhibition game against Rockhurst. The regular season starts with a trip to two-time National Champion Baylor on Nov. 14.

Season tickets for the 2014-15 ORU women’s basketball season cost just $49. To purchase tickets today, call (918) 495-7546.
